Scenes from the Streets

On Wednesday, 12.16.09, the convening of the people's assembly outside and inside Bella Center erupted and Sara Peach (from Grist) captured the action. These actions were put together in less than 24 hours and is not an action that was agreed upon across the entire youth movement. Many, including myself, disagree with pushing the barriers and halting progress (however slow) inside the center.

Actions, such as the sit-in last night, are more peaceful and effective for our movement of ACTION NOW, SOLUTIONS NOW. Our governments will not respond positively to violence. Although the protesters featured in the video below WERE peaceful, they also announced, in a variety of forums throughout the time leading up to the march, that they planned to break down the barriers. This is negatively provocative and puts up more barriers in the process by beating down the physical one.

We are smart, insightful, passionate and empowered. We have the ability to affect change without stirring violence.
